How do you solve this topic? Im so confused and I need it for tomorrow! I have a test on it!!!

Hey if you have a negative fraction in the exponent, you just have to flip the base, then multiply all of the exponents by the fraction.

Example:

(x^2/y^4)^(-1/2)

Step 1: Flip base and change exponent sign

(x^2/y^4)^(-1/2)

= (y^4/x^2)^(1/2)

Step 2: Multiply exponents by outer exponent

(y^4/x^2)^(1/2)

= (y^2/x^1)

= y^2/x

To convince yourself that (x^2/y^4)^(-1/2) = y^2/x

you can play with the sliders here:
